Colten and Chantel’s wedding is a great example of why couples shouldn’t fear the risk of rain on their wedding day. Their February wedding was held at the South Bronson Community Centre in Pitt Meadows, a really great space with beautiful wood detailing and huge windows which let in loads of natural light despite the rainy gloom outside.
I always keep a collection of clear umbrellas handy for rainy days, and they came in very handy as the rain poured down on us during portraits. The bridal party portraits were taken in the area right around the community hall, which is a cute little riverside community named Osprey Village. Colten, Chantel, my second shooter Haley, and I then hopped in my car and we drove down to the shore of Pitt Lake to take some more romantic images with just the bridal couple.
Strangely enough, it turned out that Colten and Chantel were headed to Banff for their honeymoon which was also were I was headed that week to visit friends. We arranged to meet up and take some bonus portraits with the snowy Rocky Mountains as the backdrop (and no rain!). It was really special to get to photograph a couple in such an amazing location and for them to receive a few extra images in their wedding gallery.
