Sisi and Luc’s elopement was simple but elegant. I met with them and a handful of friends and family at the Vancouver City Hall for a very quick, but sweet, ceremony with the city skyline as the backdrop. Sisi wore a stunning silk slip dress from A La Robe (their uniquely minimalist designs are ideal for a pandemic elopement) and Luc was outfitted in a custom fitted navy suit.
After online greetings from their family members who weren’t able to be there, Sisi, Luc, and I headed to Gastown for portraits. Sisi had a very specific vision for her wedding portraits. It often makes me nervous when a bride sends me inspiration images and requests a particular style, however when the vision is strong it actually pushes me to become a better photographer. I did loads of research in preparation. With Sisi and Luc’s amazing chemistry in front of the camera, and a willingness to experiment, we created some of the most unique images of my entire season. My favourite shots incorporated motion blur and my brand new 135mm lens.
After portraits, Sisi and Luc met back up with their tiny group of wedding guests at their favourite Italian restaurant for a mini reception. The day was so casual, yet the attention Sisi put into the details of her outfit and the vision she had for her portraits made it into a really special event.
